Fencing

Below is a short description of the enrichment activity to be offered in Fall 2010. This year for the first time, we are offering semester long activities only. Please note however that there are variable start dates and number of meetings dependant on the school calendar. Sign up for all activities will be VIA THE SCHOOL OFFICE and not directly to the vendor. Please complete the attached form and write your check payable to SSDS. NO CHILD WILL BE ALLOWED TO ATTEND AN ACTIVITY UNLESS PAYMENT HAS BEEN MADE IN FULL BY THE FIRST CLASS DATE. If the class does not make the minimum number of participants, the fee for that class will be refunded by SSDS.

FENCING (FRIDAYS)
Engarde! This class offers students an excellent introduction to the Olympic sport of fencing. Often called "physical chess," fencing is a safe and fun activity that hones both the body and the mind. Students will learn basic fencing skills, strategy, footwork and techniques. Training will include stretching, drills, supervised fencing bouts, games and other fun activities. The fencers' academy uses the electronic scoring equipment during the classes starting from the third class. All equipment is provided to students free of charge.
